El Choro Trek is one of Bolivia’s most popular downhill treks, as it doesn’t require any previous trekking experience, while offering a truly remarkable variety of landscapes and an incredible amount of natural beauty. Throughout the trek, travelers will be able to see colorful birds and butterflies, sparkling waterfalls, coffee and coca plantations and many endemic flora and fauna species.
As first-hand explorers and travelers, Enhance Travel has designed a package that offers the best to our visitors while respecting the environment. Recognizing the challenges posed by the weather and geographic conditions, we prioritize your comfort and security to ensure the most of your enjoyment. This mesmerizing three-day tour along Bolivia’s incredible landscape will offer an experience impossible to forget.
ITINERARY
The tour starts in La Paz, where we will take a private transportation to La Cumbre, at 4725 meters above the sea level, where our adventure starts. In a clear day, this site offers a magnificent view of the Andes. The beginning of the trek is a downhill rocky landscape, which becomes greener and greener as we descent. We will also notice a change in temperature: the morning in La Cumbre is usually cold (and sometimes even snowy), however as we go down it will get warmer and more humid. Tonight, we will camp out at Challapampa, at an altitude of 2800 meters.
We will start the day trekking through one of the few untouched cloud forests left in Bolivia, a protected area in the Cotapata National Park. Throughout the day, we will see plenty of streams and waterfalls, sunny hillsides and heavy vegetation. There will be a few uphill parts as well. In the evening, we will camp out at San Francisco.
Today, we will continue to Sandillani and enjoy the last day of tropical Yungas. This morning we will observe the vegetation and birdlife that characterize this area. Our trek finishes in Chairo, at 1400 meters. From here we will take a private transportation to Coroico (1 hour and a half drive approximately). You may decide to return to La Paz on the same day or spend the night in the beautiful town of Coroico.
