Located just 30km from La Paz, it has become the most popular major peak in the country because of its imposing beauty and ease of access: while surpassing the magic 6000 meters figure, this mountain is a majestic natural masterpiece, Huayna Potosi not only constitutes an enjoyable challenge for adventure travelers, but it offers an incredible opportunity to connect with nature, enjoying the beautiful landscapes and observing the fauna in its habitat.
As first-hand explorers and travelers, Enhance Travel has designed a package that prioritizes our clients’ safety and comfort while providing for an amazing experience in one of Bolivia’s most astonishing destinations.
ITINERARY
The tour starts in La Paz at 9am: from here we will drive directly to the basecamp at Zongo Pass, at 4700 m.a.s.l. Here we will hike for approximately 40 minutes until we reach the glacier, where we will get all appropriate instructions and practice climbing for about 2 and half hours. We will then spend the night at our refuge in the basecamp.
Today we will take a 3-hour trek to the high camp, at 5200 meters (17 thousand feet) above the sea level. During the day we will be able to enjoy the monumental views of the mountains over the clouds. We will have an early night at the high camp to prepare for the last day of climbing.
This third day starts at 1am, to start an early walk across the glacier; we will reach the summit at approximately 7am. From here, we will be able to appreciate the incredible view of the Bolivian landscape: on clear days, it is in fact possible to see mount Sajama, the Cordillera Real and Lake Titikaka. After this adventure on the top of the world, we will start to make our way back to the high camp, where we will enjoy a hearty lunch, and later to the basecamp, where our driver will be waiting for us to take us to La Paz. The tour finishes in La Paz at approximately 3pm.
